Our Story
Our story begins in 2016, when Kirsty Finnegan, Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, set up Summer Hill Speech Therapy, after 7 years of working in public services and specialist settings.
Over 8 years she established an Independent Practice, which developed a reputation for delivering quality support for families and schools. During this time, Kirsty grew a team, tailored services for children and trained in many therapeutic approaches, learning the true value of speech and language therapy for children.
In 2021, following 5 years of steady growth, plans began to re-establish the practice as a Social Enterprise and rebrand to Wordful©. In 2023, Kirsty applied for and was awarded a ‘Growth Grant’ from Malvern Hills District Council, to help bring the vision of Wordful© to life.
Wordful© is a unique concept and service, built on experience and passion, a comprehensive understanding of child development and the systems around children. We aim to provide Speech and Language Therapy to children directly and also give back to the community, encompassing our core service values within a social model of service to others.
Our 5 year vision is to provide something for everyone regardless of background and to find ways to deliver Speech and Language support to all stakeholders as a public service. We are constantly evolving our services and finding ways to support children and young people.
