Wordful stay and play sessions

As part of our family service, Nicky and I have delivered some free stay and play sessions at the Malvern Cube. Families have had the opportunity to bring their children along to a fun and engaging play session, whilst being able to chat to Senior Speech and Language Therapists for valuable advice and support.
Wordful stay and play sessions

The groups are offered to children between the ages of 2-4, who may have difficulties with their attention and interaction skills, understanding of language and/or expressive language. Across the sessions, we have had the opportunity to have 1:1 conversations with families and offer suggestions, advice and signposting. We have also discussed some strategies, for families to get started with straight away at home to begin supporting their child.

Nicky and I have had lots of fun, creating themed events across the year. We offer a range of toys that, as Therapists, we use during our therapy sessions, e.g inset puzzles, cause and effect toys, and sensory trays. This provides an inviting and exciting play experience for children but also offers the chance for us to model how to use toys to support language development.

We are excited to share, that from next academic year (September 2026) we are offering 3 more stay and play sessions across the year. You will find our sessions advertised on our social media pages, so keep an eye out! Instagram: Wordful_uk Facebook: Wordful UK

It has been a pleasure to support our local community, and we can’t wait to see you all at the next stay and play!

A decade of Wordful…

In July 2026, Wordful turned 10, and we celebrated with a team meeting, some new
team photos and of course a party buffet! As a small/micro business that has been
built from 1 person, we are extremely proud of this milestone, which has taken
resilience, determination and much hard work.

Using the BEST sentences programme in schools

I am thrilled to feedback on the use of the BEST programme that we have been using as a specialist/targeted intervention in one of our partnership mainstream schools. BEST sentences is an intervention I trained on last academic year. It was devised as a
collaboration between Newcastle University, The University of Manchester and NHS services as an intervention for children with severe language needs.
