We kicked off this school year with a whole team CPD day all about Developmental Language Disorder and our service in Mainstream Schools. Our Mainstream Schools Lead Stephanie Holmes feedback on best practice from the NAPLIC conference earlier in the year, correct terminology for children with language needs, and an overview of how we are integrating The Balanced System with the Wordful Way.
Over the Autumn term we are offering a range of FREE training sessions to our partnership Mainstream Schools to support staff in implementing Speech, Language and Communication support at all levels of the SEND pyramid. trained in Building Early Sentences Therapy, a new evidence-based intervention from Newcastle University.
Stephanie and I also became KS1 Talk Boost Tutors and now have the license to train others in this well-known targeted intervention. Nicky Gilbert is training to become an Early Years Talk Boost Tutor and will be able to train others in this approach from November. As a team we have all skilled up in Concept Cat, another Universal/Targeted approach, and are excited to put this into action. Across our team we will continue to bring the best solutions for supporting Children and Young People with Speech, Language and Communication Needs by imparting knowledge and skills to our partnership schools.
