Sensory stay and play session with Worcester Mums Coffee Club

I am so excited to be writing this blog entry as the newest member of the Wordful team!
Playing a learning game at Wordful

I can’t believe it has been 3 months already since I joined Wordful – it has gone so quickly!

Reflecting on my time so far, I feel grateful to have met and worked with lots of different children and their families across the family service and the mainstream school service. I have already carried out assessments and delivered personalised sessions for a range of children focusing on a variety of speech and language skills.

I have received so much support from Wordful so far – It’s inspiring to see their enthusiasm as Therapists, and I have been overwhelmed by the abundance of skills and knowledge in the team. My skills are continuing to grow, and it is great to have such a welcoming team to share thoughts and ideas collaboratively (mostly over a cup of tea and a toastie!).

Sensory stay and play

Recently, we have teamed up with the amazing Worcester Mums Coffee Club to deliver a sensory stay and play session with free speech and language advice for parents. It was lovely to meet Aimee who delivers a range of play sessions for children of different ages and supports parents alongside.

Worcester Warriors Foundation offered a fabulous room with a soft play area and an interactive sensory room. Aimee also brought along a selection of her own toys so there was something for every child to explore and play with. From jumping on the trampoline, to popping bubbles on the interactive mat, there were smiles all around!

I was lucky to meet lots of children and their mums and spend time having a chat about their child’s speech and language development.

I was able to support parents by offering advice on what speech and language therapy is, what areas we can support with (focusing on the communication pyramid) and give some tips and tricks on how to support children at home.

We discussed building anticipation through play, offering choices, using visuals and making communicative temptations in the home environment. Our new Wordful handouts also helped along the way, providing mums with clear information written down to take home!

As part of Wordful’s vision as a community interest company, it’s amazing to be able to offer free advice and support for children and their families. I would like to say a huge thank you to the Worcester Mums Coffee Club for a fantastic day and allowing me to join in alongside all the fun!

A decade of Wordful…

In July 2026, Wordful turned 10, and we celebrated with a team meeting, some new
team photos and of course a party buffet! As a small/micro business that has been
built from 1 person, we are extremely proud of this milestone, which has taken
resilience, determination and much hard work.

Wordful stay and play sessions

As part of our family service, Nicky and I have delivered some free stay and play sessions at the Malvern Cube. Families have had the opportunity to bring their children along to a fun and engaging play session, whilst being able to chat to Senior Speech and Language Therapists for valuable advice and support.
