In July 2026, Wordful turned 10, and we celebrated with a team meeting, some new
team photos and of course a party buffet! As a small/micro business that has been
built from 1 person, we are extremely proud of this milestone, which has taken
resilience, determination and much hard work.
As I approach the end of my first academic year as a Speech and Language Therapist, I have found myself reflecting on just how much I have learned since joining Wordful in August 2025.
As part of our family service, Nicky and I have delivered some free stay and play sessions at the Malvern Cube. Families have had the opportunity to bring their children along to a fun and engaging play session, whilst being able to chat to Senior Speech and Language Therapists for valuable advice and support.
Over the past two terms, I have worked with Bridge School to implement a wholeschool vocabulary strategy aimed at strengthening students’ vocabulary and wordlearning skills. Bridge is a secondary specialist setting with an attached Sixth Form.
I am thrilled to feedback on the use of the BEST programme that we have been using as a specialist/targeted intervention in one of our partnership mainstream schools. BEST sentences is an intervention I trained on last academic year. It was devised as a
collaboration between Newcastle University, The University of Manchester and NHS services as an intervention for children with severe language needs.
Last half term, Holly and I had the opportunity, through a Social Opportunities Grant with Herefordshire Council, to run two weekly groups for pre-schoolers with language and communication needs.
